The project does not specify the minimum environment for which the code needs to be maintained.
I suggest fixing the minimum supported ubuntu 20.04 , gc >= 9 . Which should open up the possibility of using the c++ > 11 standard.

I propose to agree on always supporting penultimate LTS version of Ubuntu.
