Prerequisites

  • I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates.

Feature

While zooming, I'd like to have an overlay which displays the current zoom level in percent in the middle of the terminal window.

Existing work
Zooming with Ctrl+Scroll was added in 5.5.0

This would be a nice pattern across multiple apps! I could see it being useful in Files, Ephemeral, Code, and any other app that lets you zoom with the keyboard or Ctrl+Scroll. We should implement it in one app first, but try to do so in a somewhat reusable to make it easier to do elsewhere, and/or if we want to abstract it into something for Granite.

I've decided to prototype this today. Some progress:

terminal_zoom_level

I would like suggestions on how to style the percentage display. It looks even worse in the other themes.
