When diagnosing Studio-related Problems in Opencast it would sometimes be useful to know some more about the context of the creation of the affected videos.

Couldn't Studio pass some info in the workflow properties or as an attachment, maybe? I'm thinking about stuff like:

  • The config used, including ACL and DC catalog templates,
  • the URL used to call studio,
  • maybe the commit the Studio instance was built from.

Of course there would need to be some filtering for privacy/security reasons.

Instead of passing this to the workflow properties, we could also pass this as debug attachment. For example, a JSON with all relevant information.

This should be an option in the config file (and probably off by default although alternatively, you could also just not archive the attachment). I would also prefer attachments.
