Might have missed something in the docs, but I think that some kind of
blame
command might be useful.For an example, see
spack config blame
:This command prints off the current configuration (right side) as well as the source of that configuration variable (left side), this would be pretty useful to have when using multiple files and environment variables so that you could see the source of settings.
If people think this is a good idea, I'd be happy to work on it later 😃
