After recently acquiring a MacBook5,2 for development purposes, I noticed that trackpad gestures did not work properly on 10.12 and newer.
The following was verified on 10.12 Sierra and 12 Monterey, with assistance from Gwy:
Dragging (Working)
Tapping (Broken)
Right Clicking (Broken)
After a bit of trial and error, I was able to determine that IOHIDFamily was to blame, as downgrading the kext on 10.12 fixed completely fixed gestures. Unfortunately, downgrading IOHIDFamily is not a sustainable solution and does not work on 12 Monterey.
However, the extension is open source, and I will take a look at potentially reimplementing support.
