Devopness already support multiple application stacks allowing deploy application written in multiple programming languages.
However, at the time of this writing, when adding a new PHP application to Devopness the only supported versions of PHP are PHP 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4:
This prevents modern PHP web applications, that require PHP 8.x, to be deployed using Devopness, limiting our users ability to use Devopness as a single platform for cloud infrastructure mangement and application deployment.
Why does this matter?
According to PHP official documentation [1] versions 7.x have reached their end of life, and only 8.x, starting with 8.2, are being actively supported by PHP maintainers:
Therefore, we should make sure our users are offered the option to use actively supported versions of PHP when setting up their applications to be deployed by Devopness.
Must have: Add support to PHP 8.2 as it is considered stable, is actively supported and has about 2 years to come before reaching its end of life (PHP 8.2 end of life: 08 Dec 2025)
Must have: Keep support for 7.x versions, as Devopness users might still need to deploy applications that could not yet be converted to run on top of PHP 8
Nice to have: Add support to PHP 8.3, as it is the most recent version of PHP and has about 3 years to come before reaching its end of life (PHP 8.3 end of life: 23 Nov 2026)
