Keyboard-interactive GUI dialog may not handle a prompt consisting of several lines of text

Its been reported that the GUI dialogs don't work properly with the keyboard-interactive prompts generated by Duo 2FA used by MIT Athena.

The prompt is of the form:

Duo two-factor login for username

Enter a passcode or select one of the following options:

 1. Duo Push to XXX-XXX-XXXX
 2. Phone call to XXX-XXX-XXXX
 3. Phone call to XXX-XXX-XXXX
 4. Phone call to XXX-XXX-XXXX
 5. SMS passcodes to XXX-XXX-XXXX
