Steps to reproduce

  1. Using npm version 8.19.2 from the Node 18.12.1 package run "npm install" after extracting the zip or forking the repository.

What is expected?

The code will compile/build.

What is actually happening?

npm ERR! code ERESOLVE
npm ERR! ERESOLVE unable to resolve dependency tree
npm ERR!
npm ERR! While resolving: [email protected]
npm ERR! Found: [email protected]
npm ERR! node_modules/chartist
npm ERR! chartist@"0.11.4" from the root project
npm ERR!
npm ERR! Could not resolve dependency:
npm ERR! peer chartist@"^0.10.1" from [email protected]
npm ERR! node_modules/react-chartist
npm ERR! react-chartist@"0.14.4" from the root project
npm ERR!
npm ERR! Fix the upstream dependency conflict, or retry
npm ERR! this command with --force, or --legacy-peer-deps
npm ERR! to accept an incorrect (and potentially broken) dependency resolution.


Solution

npm install --legacy-peer-deps does get you through the build with many deprecated warnings.
