Is there any documentation on custom automation with the javascript dev setting? Want to set volume on keyword.

I've searched anything I can think of and look through the wiki pages, and can't find anything about how to automate calls into the extension with the custom javascript setting, to change how settings are applied.

Ultimately I want to set the force-volume setting based on some keywords, but it's specific enough to me I just want to automate it myself, figuring the custom javascript setting under the developer settings is my best bet assuming the extension exposes apis to change the settings on a page.
