Is it possible to get multiple lines of context with gh search code?

For instance instead of:

$ gh search code --repo cli/cli "gh extension create foobar"

Showing 1 of 1 results

cli/cli pkg/cmd/extension/command.go
	gh extension create foobar

i'd get surround contextual lines as well, but with gh extension create foobar highlighted like:

$ gh search code --repo cli/cli "gh extension create foobar"

Showing 1 of 1 results

cli/cli pkg/cmd/extension/command.go
	# Use interactively
	gh extension create

	# Create a script-based extension
	gh extension create foobar     <--- imagine this is highlighted

	# Create a Go extension
	gh extension create --precompiled=go foobar

I looked through the api:

And I couldn't find a way to with the api, much less the cli.

Though I saw something about fragments and perhaps that can help me?

@ParetoOptimalDev Unfortunately that is not an option that is currently supported by the API and thus can't be exposed in gh. It is a good idea though, and something we wanted to implement when creating the search code command. Perhaps it is something we can implement in the future.

Thanks for the confirmation, that was my conclusion from research.

For those also curious if this is possible at all, it seems it is possible with sourcegraph by:

• having an account
• setting search.contextLines in your user settings
• redoing your search

There is an open issue to add a button to the search interface but it doesn't seem very high priority.

For a lot of my use cases around researching code and quickly going through search results being able to add extra context, even just -C5, goes a long way towards knowing how to modify my future searches and identifying patterns.

Should I create an issue for the github api for modifying context size of results or does one exist? Actually, maybe it's not public since I couldn't find the api repository with a web search just now.

There is no public API repo to open issues in so it is probably best open up a discussion here for this sort of feature request.
