Hi Carlos,

My name is Raúl Jiménez, I would like to ask you if it would make sense to do a pull request to this repo adding a Youtube playlist from a workshop we have done in Tomelloso Tech, I'm asking because it is in Spanish, or... maybe just add the mailing list or our slack team to Communities.

BTW: the playlist is not finished, I still have to produce to videos from last weekend... 😄

Cheers!

Hola Raúl,

One of the requirements for the links on the list is to be in the English language, however the only exception would be for the community section. So it'd be great to have a links to a Spanish community there!
Do you have a link with a bit more context about what the community is about?

You mean a link with a text in english?, if that's the case, no we don't. In spanish we have these videos and our website: tomellosotech.org. We are an NGO focused in spreading knowledge about technology and entrepreneurship. We are not dedicated to just one topic, but between january and february José Manuel Ruiz spent 12hours teaching us how to use micro:bit, and now we plan to continue doing more things with micro:bit and likely with other open hardware technologies. Jose Manuel have a clear interest in spreading STEAM education :)

That is wonderful! I'm really glad these types of initiatives are taking place in local communities.

What I mean with context was to be able to include a link that had a bit more info about what the communities are about, in this case it would be fine if that information is in Spanish.

The Slack channel form contains no info about what you are trying to access: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfNVb4asbD3OyjlPyqspTyTqPYWdC7yfyM7wwWD1Oo4hTDkDg/viewform

And the mailing list, while having a name that suggest this is about some workshops, gives the impression that it could be a community for people that are physically participating in some type of event, and in that case it could discourage other people to sign up: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/talleres-micro-bit-2019

The URL descriptions in the Community section should be very short, so without more context inside those pages, it would be quite hard for visitors to understand what the communities are about.

I understand 👍 . If you don't mind give me a couple of days I can talk to the rest of the members and I will get back to you. And thanks for the clarification!

Hi Carlos, I had a meeting with Jose Manuel last Friday and he agreed with me on give continuity to the activities started with micro:bit. These are some on the things we have in mind:

  • We are organizing an open event in which we will present some projects made with micro:bit and we will use this as an excuse to start a discussion about the role of micro:bit in STEM education.
  • We have also invited all participants to document and share their projects with the community.
  • We also want to get more involved with the micro_bit community by creating and opening tutorials, notifying bugs, helping with the localization of makecode or other tutorials, ...
  • Etc

On this last point, would it be possible stay in touch with someone from the Foundation? could we have a videoconference with you or someone else who can guide us in this regard?

Best regards!
Raul
P.S: we have also renamed the Google Group from "Talleres micro:bit 2019" to Micro:bit Tomelloso

Hi Raul,

That sounds wonderful! The best way to get in touch with the Micro:bit Foundation is to send an email with all this info to [email protected].

And just as a general clarification, while I do work for the Foundation, this list was started before that and it is maintained independently :).

Thanks Carlos for your help, we will write them soon 😄 .

So, if you are OK with it, I can do a PR to add a reference to the about section in our mailing list.

Changing gears, we are also making a website with all the content we generated during our workshop:

If you want, I can keep you posted.

Cheers!
