Just missing a test for the generate_input function I think.

As commented in #31, the template methods are all coupled to paths.

To properly unit test these functions i feel like they should be
decoupled from the files as much as possible, so the next objective
is to revisit these functions and then write tests to all functions
that have been decoupled.
