Describe the bug
Plugging in my Fiio K5 pro ess amp/dac into my mac via USB makes equal unavailable to use, giving me the error when I try to enable it: "The currently selected Output Device isn't supported."

Steps to Reproduce
Plug in Amp/dac via USB
Try to run Eqmac

Expected behaviour
I expect EQmac to be compatible, I don't see why it wouldn't be. Soundsource works fine with the k5

Setup information:

  • Sennheiser HD6XX
  • USB is used from mac to amp, from amp to headphones a 3.5mm with 6.5mm adaptor
  • macOS Version: 14.1.2 sonoma
  • eqMac Version 1.8

I updated earlier this week to the latest version (v.1.8.1), but I'm still getting the same error.

Hey there,

I have been struggling to replicate this issue for the last month and in the end decided to fix it by removing the logic that was triggering it. Hopefully that will fix it.
You can try the release by downloading it from here:
https://github.com/bitgapp/eqMac/releases/tag/v1.8.2
Please let me know if the issue is now resolved and close the issue if it is.
Thank you for your patience!

I just tested this, unfortunatly this just disables eqMac : modifying settings does not have any impact on the sound anymore.
FYI I am using a CalDigit TS4 dock.

I'm getting the same result. eqMac works on other devices such as the MacBook speakers and the built-in speakers on my external monitor, but not on my Topping DX1.

Since updating to v.1.8.2 I am able to keep eqMac "enabled" in the UI when I switch to my DX1 as my output device, but changing EQ settings has no effect on the sound. Also, it doesn't create an eqMac virtual device for the DX1 in the Sound dropdown like it used to when it was working properly.

I have problems too. EQ Mac no longer works with Topping DX5 Mac Book Air M2 latest MAC OS. It seems that there is no input signal in the EQ Mac as soon as I switch to the DX5 as an output device. Output via internal speakers works perfectly.
