Connections.allowTo() cannot read port values from the SSM

Hi,

I am trying to allow connections to a security group. The id and port of the security group are stored in the SSM. I tried to read these values and pass them to allowTo() but the FromPort and ToPort are always null.

Code:

    const securityGroup = SecurityGroup.fromSecurityGroupId(
      this,
      "SecurityGroup",
      StringParameter.valueForStringParameter(
        this,
        "SecurityGroupId",
      ),
    );

    const port = SecurityGroup.fromSecurityGroupId(
      this,
      "Port",
      StringParameter.valueForStringParameter(
        this,
        "Port",
      ),
    );

    myService.service.connections.allowTo(
      securityGroup,
      Port.tcp(parseInt(port, 10)),
    );

It fails to create this ingress rule because of the validation error: FromPort cannot be null
