Your idea

Working on #5794, I could see that PFFFT might be 10 times faster than our custom RealFFTf function. At least it was a game changer in that PR.
Maybe using it for spectrum display isn't too difficult and would make it smoother.

Problem to be solved

Sometimes FFT spectrum display feels slow.
