ERRORS Failed to initialise wayland but nothing else #208

I use wayvnc on arch linux on tv box E900V22C(usb disk boot)(may not important)
Whenever I use pacman -S version or manually build(i make all check to YES), it all shows

> wayvnc # pacman version
ERROR: ../wayvnc/src/main.c: 953: Failed to initialise wayland

#or manually build
> ./wayvnc/build/wayvnc 0.0.0.0.
ERROR: ../src/main.c: 1394: Failed to initialise wayland

It dont say anything else, even i use -L debug(?).
I installed all require lib in main readme page. So what's wrong? I am missing lib or I don't config my platform(arch linux arm, kernel 6.0.8, may look about ophub and unifreq (github user)(i a little know they make linux be able on amlogic arm box) ) well?
I follow guide in a issue and the blog mentioned in the issue to install the system on the usb disk.

In the shell where you are running wayvnc, do you have $WAYLAND_DISPLAY set in your environment?

wait, i may not sure how to use wayland
It seems i need a wayland display up already
I want use sway, but when I have var DISPLAY=:6 and run sway(using sudo to change to non-root)

Right! You need Wayland up first before wayvnc can run. How you start sway (which starts Wayland for you) depends on what you're trying to do:

If you are trying to run sway in "headless mode" where it only uses a virtual screen and wayvnc is the only way to access it, follow the instructions in the wayvnc FAQ.md
If you are trying to run sway on a physical output, do NOT set DISPLAY at all, and just run sway. It should find the right physical output devices for you automatically. But consult the sway Manpage and other docs for that.

After sway is running you can then start wayvnc:

If you have an open terminal inside sway, or set up wayvnc to run from your sway config file in a keybind or exec line, it will set WAYLAND_DISPLAY for you automatically.
If you're logged in over ssh, WAYLAND_DISPLAY will not be set, so you have to do it yourself. wayland-1 is usually a good guess, or wayland-0 if using an older sway.

wait..... I use sudo to run sway in user alarm, and when i run wayvnc in root user, it cant find DISPLAY wayland-1/0, when I use sudo to alarm, error:

wait.. default wayvnc build script don't run install in subproj. aml? may lib error from this. So I try run ninja -C install in aml (is that runnable?) ?

Same user that runs sway.

You could do something like this:

add exec /your/path/to/wayvnc 0.0.0.0 to /home/alarm/.config/sway/config
run following script as user alarm

#!/bin/bash
export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/tmp/whatever
mkdir -p "$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR"
WLR_BACKENDS=headless WLR_LIBINPUT_NO_DEVICES=1 /your/path/to/sway

And when I use Auto picture quality, the vnc client(realvnc viewer) will connect and suddenly reconnecting, then loop. I set Quality(high), and now it shows all grey.

~some log after starting xterm,but xterm exits with msg like `Authorization required, but no authorization proto specified` and `xterm: Xt error: Can't open display: %s` (DISPLAY=:0, run in root user`)~ ~xterm in alarm user(non-root) now only says cannot load font .....~ ~It sppears in~ xterm in same sway starts user appears in vnc view! bg is grey may cause I don't config it. thanks(?)

Then its working fine. You just have to start some application.
For example you can add exec xterm to /home/alarm/.config/sway/config

A little question, why the color when I watching a video in firefox comes strange and a little disgusting,(wayvnc+sway+realvnc viewer on windows 10)?
Also feel color may a little wrong when using glmark2 pacman version.

Looks like the client has been configured to request a very low colour resolution.

Besides, RealVNC performs rather badly. I recommend TigerVNC.

..... Now I solved the strange color, in realvnc settings , a option ColorLevel was rgb222, I change it to full and the color is right.
