datatables.createAjax not adding query parameter

According to this documentation it should be possible to simply add a query parameter by passing it in the function like this:

ajax: abp.libs.datatables.createAjax(example.project.something.item.getFilteredList, (a, b) => {
    console.log("called", a, b);
    return {
        foo: "bar"
    };
}),

Doing this I'd expect it to add ?foo=bar to the request. The console shows the function is called, but the network request shows it's not adding it.

Tried a lot of different ways to include the function, none of them add the request parameter.

Is this a bug, or is the documentation outdated?

Managed to do it like this, doesn't appear to be explained in the docs and had to find it in the issues section:

ajax: abp.libs.datatables.createAjax(function(inputParams) {
    return example.project.something.item.getFilteredList(inputParams, "bar");
}),

Had to look in the compiles JS code by doing a console.log(example.project.something.item.getFilteredList) and go to the Prototype's function location to see which input parameters (& order) it was expecting.
