Set up environment variables #937
Comments
@ericwbailey May I get involved with this one? |
That'd be amazing! |
To reference later: https://css-tricks.com/give-your-eleventy-site-superpowers-with-environment-variables/ @danielmatthew Is this something you're still interested in? No worries if not. |
@ericwbailey I am! I'm sorry – extracurricular activities fell by the wayside towards the end of last year. |
@danielmatthew No worries, especially considering this year. Just checking in! |
Adding environment variables will allow us to differentiate between local development and the live, published site. This is great for things like ensuring our analytics are accurate, as well as better CI/CD integration (not to mention clever things like creating favicons to indicate if the site is live or not when working on it).
Here's a good starting point on setting this up in Eleventy: https://weblog.herok.pl/posts/eleventy-tip-use-environment-variables/
