The events portfolio has long been in charge of organising not only regular COMPSA socials, but also hosting larger events such as Fall Night Out, or Computing Formal. Also given the interest among incoming executives to increase volunteer numbers, we believe that the skillset and jurisdiction of the two responsibilities of the Event portfolio differ significantly enough to justify a new portfolio for better job delegation.
The new Socials Portfolio shall be responsible with hosting various socials throughout the year for recreation and building community within Computing students.
The director for this portfolio shall be hired during Council hiring. In the case that council hiring 2023-2024 has been concluded before the ratification of this portfolio, the director shall be chosen from the existing Events volunteers. In the case that the Events portfolio does not have any volunteers to choose from, previous applicants for Council who are interested shall be recalled for an interview for this position. Otherwise, a new hiring session shall be organised to hire the new director.
