Clarify narrative introduction for new web programmers #2614

The introduction page of the narrative documentation is a primary landing page. As such, it should be as approachable as possible for a new web developer. Improve the document with this goal in mind.

  • offer plain-language definitions for web development specific jargon
  • push vital information closer to the top
