[funfuzz] Replace gzip calls via subprocess to use stdlib instead #171

There are several gzip calls made via subprocess that look like they can be replaced by:

shutil.make_archive or the gzip library
lzma from Python 3.3 onwards (probably backports.lzma is the compatibility PyPI library)

nth10sd added the enhancement label
