Our goal is to help everyone receive the benefits of continuous delivery.
In the book Accelerate the authors state, "Continuous delivery improves both delivery performance and quality, and also helps improve culture and reduce burnout and deployment pain.”
We've witnessed that on teams where we have used CD we've had much better outcomes. However, this is only true if we are doing at least the minimum activities for trank-based development, CI, and CD. When organizations do not understand what these minimums are and why those make things better, they establish practices that do not achieve the benefits of CD. This damages the organization and the brand of continuous delivery itself.
To move the industry conversation forward, we decided to define the bare minimum activities needed for safely releasing reliable systems continuously in every context.
