Historically we've been using the same linting process as DefinitelyTyped, because generated types were meant to be published there, so it made sense to use the same testing. However now @definitelytyped/dtslint is moving far from the original dtslint package, and is being developed only with DT in mind, see microsoft/DefinitelyTyped-tools#850 for example.
We need to find an alternative solution to ensure high quality of generated types.
