Using a virtual environment or a non-primary machine is a good way to do this.

Install CasaOS v0.4.0-alpha1

curl -fsSL https://get.casaos.io/v0.4.0-alpha1 | sudo bash

Update to CasaOS v0.4.0-alpha.1 from older version

curl -fsSL https://get.casaos.io/update/v0.4.0-alpha1 | sudo bash

Uninstall CasaOS v0.4.0-alpha.1

casaos-uninstall
