[Request]: Default Language should default to system language #797
Comments
It follows the one set for your instance. For example on mastodon, it's under We could however try and match the system's one if it doesn't return anything on software that do not support that I guess |
The problem with is is, what do you do with polyglots like me who post in multiple languages but "primarily English", but who may be running their GNOME session/settings in either English or something else entirely? |
I think the default language should still be a setting. Having start as the system lang may be more intuitive than just assuming English. |
It doesn't assume English though. It uses the language your instance returns and when you change it, it updates that |
Oh my bad. I misread something. I openned this issue because mine had defaulted to "aa" but I think that might have been a bug in Go to Social. |
Or GTS might not have implemented it yet, so this feature request makes sense if the server doesn't return anything
|
GtS has a setting for default lang but it may not return it in a way Tuba likes. Tusky got the right default en, but that might have just been a fallback. |
I had set up Tuba a while ago so maybe the version I was running then didn't. |
Describe the request
The default setting for "Default Language" should be the system language instead of English.
