Attached is what it looks like if MATE is put in dark mode before wx is installed.
2024-02-11 21_33_43-EndMATE - VMware Workstation
Which is basically unreadable. This wouldn't be a problem if it were possible to change this without an issue, as per:
#219 (comment)
