It would be useful to be able to optionally generate low res preview videos as well as thumbnails.

  • Default to disabled
  • Webm (preserve any alpha)
  • Serve over http

ffmpeg can't encode vp8 with alpha as far as I know

I believe alpha isn't a must on this, but I think I have done vp9 with alpha in ffmpeg before for html graphics

vp8, but yes you are right, ffmpeg doesn't decode it but it does encode it.
