Windows screensaver weirdness

Win 10:
Install BOINC, including the screensaver.
Go to the Screen Saver Settings dialog.
Select BOINC (note: it doesn't show in the small window)
Click Preview.

It shows the screensaver correctly.
Move the mouse, and it goes away.
But it keeps coming back every second or two.
The only way to get rid of it is to kill in Process Manager.
Unpleasant experience.
