Are you referring to the WordPress.com Action Bar? Assuming that you are, I wonder if this might be a duplicate of Automattic/jetpack#6848. |
@Aurorum - That definitely looks similar, yes. That it's been open since 2017 is... not encouraging. :) |
📌 ACTIONS
@arinoch considering the Action Bar is a WordPress.com-specific feature, I think it's unlikely that it will even be implemented on Atomic sites, where we're now looking to have them as close to core WordPress as possible. cc @mrfoxtalbot in case there have been any discussions about this in UCNR. |
Thank you for the ping, @liviopv. I do not think this is within the scope of UCNR and as mentioned in earlier comments, this was raised before. For the record, there is a plugin by our very own @RafaelFunchal that addresses this gap partially: https://wordpress.org/plugins/edit-post-link/ |
The plugin must be updated to ensure it works with PHP 8+ and WP 6.5.3. @mrfoxtalbot, the plugin code is available at https://github.com/RafaelFunchal/edit-post-link. Let me know if you want/can help me with it. |
Thank you @RafaelFunchal. One more thing, we are soon going to re-introduced the default WordPress master bar for users that opt into the Classic Interface. This master bar includes direct "Edit Post/Page/Category" a "Edit Site" buttons so this will effectively bridge this gap. |
Good to know that. The lack of an Edit button really annoys some users. |
Not reopening this issue, but adding https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/edit-customization-buttons-missing-when-i-visit-site/?view=all#post-4045674 to catalogue this user's request for similar functionality. |
Just noting that you could always add the new requests to Automattic/jetpack#6848 so they're still considered for an open issue! :) |
What
I'd like to see (and so would some of our users) the "edit button" we include on the frontend of sites on simple infrastructure available when a user upgrades to atomic.
Why
It will make for a slightly better user experience if we try to be as consistent as possible with our user interface when users change plans. A user in 8199893-zd-a8c upgraded and then came to chat specifically to ask where their "edit" button went. The interaction contains a screenshot of the feature that is currently missing on atomic.
