Inconsistent DNS rewrite #6986
Comments
It happens that the desktop/laptop computers sometimes can access home.lan and a rewrite can be seen in AGH, but then a bit later it doesn't work and then at some random time it will work a little again. |
I just had a web browser able to access home.lan, then I tried to ping it and the host couldn't be found and the browser couldn't access it anymore. |
Ok, it's not a problem with AdGuard, it's caused by IPv6, disabling IPv6 on computers solved the problem. |
Prerequisites
I have checked the Wiki and Discussions and found no answer
I have searched other issues and found no duplicates
I want to report a bug and not ask a question or ask for help
I have set up AdGuard Home correctly and configured clients to use it. (Use the Discussions for help with installing and configuring clients.)
Platform (OS and CPU architecture)
Linux, AMD64 (aka x86_64)
Installation
Docker
Setup
Other (please mention in the description)
AdGuard Home version
v0.107.48
Action
Replace the following command with the one you're calling or a
description of the failing action:
Expected result
All devices resolves the AGH DNS rewrite domain the same.
Actual result
Some can resolve the domain name and some can't. I have tested three PC's with Windows and none can resolve the domain name, I have four Android devices of which three can resolve the domain name and one can't.
Additional information and/or screenshots
AGH in Docker on AlpineLinux VM
Router only has AGH as DNS
The tested Windows Computers have been ipconfig /dnsflush, restarted and verified that they only have AGH as DNS.
I've made a rewrite from home.lan to 192.168.1.52.
"home.lan" is a local domain I've never used before.
AdGuard seems to be blocking very few DNS requests and ads are still visible on some sites.
